The Westfield Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) is the recreational soccer program of the Indiana Fire Juniors. No experience is necessary, and the focus is on having fun and developing soccer skills in a less competitive settings. Games and practices are held at Grand Park in Westfield. We have a fall season, which starts in late August and continues through October, and a spring season, which start in early April and continues through late May or early June. Players can participate in just one season, or they may opt to play fall and spring soccer.
Age groups: Although travel soccer groups its teams according to birth year, we have found that our players prefer to be grouped by grade. Our 5U (under 5) age group is typically made of preschool-aged players. Our 6U age group is kindergarten, our U7 age group is first graders, and so on. Your child will "age up" each August; if he is a U7 in the fall, he will be a U7 in the spring, regardless of whether he turns 7 during the winter.
End-of-season tournaments and awards: Our U5-U8 players will play at least eight games each season (weather permitting), with all players receiving a participation trophy or medal at the end of the season. The U9-U18 age groups will play at least eight games each season (weather permitting), with all teams participating in an end-of-season tournament. Awards are given to the winners and finalists of each tournament age group.
Coaching: Our teams are coached by parent volunteers, with oversight by a professional Director of Coaching.
Registration opens online in June for the fall season and December for the spring season. Please bookmark this page to find the appropriate links. A limited number of walk-in registrations are scheduled each season. Please register as early as you can. We base our jersey order on our registrations on hand two months before the season starts.
One of our favorite WYSA programs is the Youth Development Program, which is open to players in the 7U to 10U age groups. The Youth Development Program is led by our Director of Coaching, and offers technical training and skills lessons to players who are looking for something a extra. YDP is open to all registered players between the ages of 7U and 10U. Five Monday sessions are offered at a cost of $50. You can opt into the YDP program when you register. Make sure you list Mondays as a conflict day for practices, so we place your child on a team that practices on a different night.
